2016 Multi Terrain

2016 Multi Terrain Race Reports and Results

Arrowe Park race report
The last in the series of 4 races over Multi-terrain around the Wirral took place on a warm evening. We made sure everyone got around safely.  Thanks to all who gave up their Tuesday evening to marshal/issue finish positions and run the tail. A bit of confusion ensued as the tail runner collected the tape and missed a couple of marshals by taking a short cut!!!

Andy stayed to present the prizes which was very enjoyable along with the sandwiches….

Well done to Brunhild Wilson, James Downey and Ian McNeil who completed all 4 races.

132nd Ian Davies
148th Ian McNeil
178th Ian Sneddon
197th James Downey

98th Katrina Ball
99th Brunhild Wilson

Well done to our second claim members Steve Harrison who completed 3 races for the Village, Maria/Anthony Brockway who represented Wirral.

Thanks again to all who have helped, here is some positive feedback we received:

“Please pass on my thanks to all in Birkenhead AC who were on duty this evening. The course marking was spot on and the marshals were all very encouraging to every runner whatever their vest colour.”

Derby Pool race report
The third race in the Multi-Terrain series took place in the setting sun below the Derby pool, a great night for racing with very little wind.

153rd Ian Davies
154th Ian McNeil
164th Colin Thomson
180th John Tregoning
181st Ian Sneddon
217th James Downey

Thanks to Pauline Roberts for the support and token collect.

On Tuesday 27th September at Arrowe park we have to marshal and provide a tail runner (torch/Hi-vis to be worn/mobile to be carried), names to me soonest and we will meet at the finish area at 1745 prompt so we can get into positions – the more the better and lets show what BAC is all about.

Thurstaston Race Report
The 2nd race of the Multi Terrain series at Thurstaston luckily enough stayed dry for us after the rain in some areas.  A challenging course down onto the beach to Caldy and back on the Wirral way, we managed to start at the same time as the cocklers left the beach so the it was a gap – start the race.

157th Ian McNeil
174th Colin Thomson
179th John Tregoning
201st Andy Waring
214th James Downey

77th Brunhild Wilson

Next week race is on the beach below the Derby pool (no parking the pub car park) parking in the public car parks and on the sea front – START time is 18:30.  Meet Andy at the bottom car park.  Please support your club, the last race on the 27th is at Arrowe park we have to marshal.

Royden Park Race Report
8 members of the club tackled the first course of the 4 race Multi-Terrain series at Royden Park on a really warm and humid evening.  It was a new challenge for some members who wore the orange of BAC with pride, though one do did get his shirt dirty.

149th Andy Waring
165th Colin Thomson
197th Ian McNeil
212nd John Tregoning
218th Ian Sneddon
238th James Downey

106th Katrina Ball
107th Brunhild Wilson

Next weeks race 13/09/16 is another 19:00 start at Thurstaston. Parking is at the visitor centre and the start is on the road that leads down to the yacht club.  It is 2 laps along the beach to Caldy then back on the Wirral way and can be a challenge depending on the weather.

Andy will be leaving Thornton Ave at 17:30 again on Tuesday 13/09.  Ian Sneddon is away so we need another male and it would be great to have a full team of 3 females too.
